Digital Tool 3- Concept Mapping
I used bubbl.us to create this concept map. I also explored mindmap which I found easy to use, but I prefered the graphics used in bubbl.us. Bubbl.us was fairly easy to use, although some of the key bubbles that I was trying to use were over lapping each other. I ended up with one slightly over lapping another.
In the classroom this would be an engaging tool. Time wise it may take longer then a simple barinstorming activity using a whiteboard. In saying that it is simple to read and understand and would be useful as a visual display in the classroom.

Hi Toni,
ReplyDeleteI believe that concept mapping programs like the ones that you have mentioned are a great tool for teachers in an every changing classroom. Students can create their own personal mind maps or do this collaboratively as a whole class. In turn students will be engaging in classroom activities. If a Learning Manager decides to incorporate these programs in the classroom it is essential that they well practiced in the creation of them.
The feature that I like most is that they can be printed or saved for later use and editing. This is much better that erasing the whiteboard at the end of a lesson.
Do you agree?
Nick
Hi Nick,
ReplyDeleteI really enjoyed reading your insighful and clever comments. Being able to edit the concept maps is definently a positive feature, it would help to encourage children to continue their thinking. As they continue their learning on the chosen topic they could continue to add their knowledge and ideas. Using this technology would engage the learners' and they would be encouraged and confident to express their ideas. Thankyou for furthering my thinking on the use of this tool. Toni
